A Sharjah authority has apprehended endangered migratory birds in the emirate, the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) revealed on Thursday. The EPAA carried out a raid in Sharjah's Al-Buhais area, where they discovered a species of endangered migratory birds and sound-emitting devices designed to attract and trap these birds.
The authority swiftly seized and confiscated two such devices in collaboration with the relevant city authorities. The birds involved included 10 curlews and one bustard.
As per Resolution No. (12) of 2014, it is illegal to distribute, possess, or utilize devices that emit the sounds of wild birds in Sharjah.
