As the UAE gears up to commemorate its 53rd National Day, the Sharjah Executive Council has meticulously reviewed the preparations. The Council examined a comprehensive report detailing the major events, performances, and workshops scheduled across various cities within the Emirate. These festivities are designed with the visual identity inspired by the 2024 state initiative, 'Year of Sustainability'. The Council underscored that these celebrations should engage all societal segments, foster national identity, and convey a sense of joy and appreciation for the union and its achievements. Furthermore, they aim to pay tribute to the founding leaders and their pivotal contributions to the unification of the state.
In a separate development, the Sharjah government recently reviewed supplementary grants for retirees in the emirate. This grant is extended to retirees from federal entities, local emirate governments, or the private sector who are registered in Sharjah. The objective is to ensure that their total income reaches a minimum of Dh17,500. This initiative is aimed at improving the quality of life for retirees in Sharjah, supporting their livelihood, and promoting social stability for them and their families. This announcement was made during the Executive Council's meeting earlier this week.
The report highlighted that 5,118 individuals have already benefited from the supplementary grant, amounting to over Dh473 million. Additionally, the Council scrutinized key statistics, figures, and comparisons related to registrants, along with various recommendations and proposals. The Council also reviewed several agendas focused on monitoring the performance of government departments and agencies. It emphasized efforts to enhance these entities to improve services for citizens, strengthen societal cohesion across all demographics, and support the ongoing growth of vital sectors.
