The Ruler of Sharjah has allocated Dh4.5 million to enhance the emirate's public libraries with the latest titles from publishers participating in the 43rd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). This year's SIBF features over 2,500 publishers and exhibitors, presenting a wide range of literary and scholarly works.
The grant, provided by Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aims to transform libraries into key reference points for researchers and readers. This initiative underscores the importance of libraries in fostering a knowledge-based society and contributing to Sharjah's cultural renaissance.
Organized by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) at Expo Centre Sharjah, the 2024 edition of the event, themed 'It starts with a book', will continue until November 17. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the SBA, emphasized that the Ruler's grant supports their efforts to advance the publishing sector, ensuring that public spaces in Sharjah are enriched with contemporary thought and knowledge.
