The Ruler of Sharjah has declared that the compensation amount for residents whose homes were damaged by the April rainstorms should be increased to Dh50,000. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi revealed that 618 cases have already received benefits from this compensation. A total of Dh15,330,000 has been sanctioned for this purpose and must be promptly distributed to the eligible individuals, as directed by the Ruler to the Sharjah Social Services Department.
Previously, in April, following the Ruler's instructions, the Sharjah Executive Council improved safety protocols and developed proactive strategies for future scenarios. It was also stated that aid would be provided to homeowners affected by the rain, with applications accepted via the Sharjah Digital Platform. This platform would issue a damage report, facilitating access to the aid.
Subsequent to the most severe rainfall in 75 years, the council also extended a one-month grace period for fee payments related to renewal and violations for commercial entities.
