Sharjah is gearing up for a vibrant array of festivities and entertainment to celebrate the UAE's 53rd National Day. The Sharjah Union Day Celebrations Committee has recently unveiled plans for a four-day holiday extravaganza, running from November 21 to December 2. This extensive program will feature a diverse range of activities across Sharjah's cultural and tourist landmarks, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Mleiha will kick off the celebrations on November 21 at the Heritage Village with a national march, folklore performances, a theatrical play, and various competitions. The event will also include a heritage area featuring a Bedouin tent, a free exhibition space for local families, and a section for government institutions to showcase their services. A free play area for children will enhance the family-friendly ambiance.
Al Madam will host events on November 22, featuring heritage performances, children's activities, poetry sessions, and evening fireworks. Khorfakkan's celebrations, from November 22 to 24, will take place at the outdoor plaza of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, including art workshops, children's activities, and traditional performances. The festivities will commence with the national anthem, followed by poetry recitals, school performances, and a performance by the Al Mazyood military band.
Dibba Al Hisn will celebrate on November 23 with a public march at 4.00pm, followed by folklore performances. After the Maghrib prayer, the national operetta will continue with poetry, folk, and military segments. Wadi Al Helo will host a day of festivities on November 24, featuring folk performances, poetry sessions, and an awards ceremony.
In Al Dhaid City, a national march will take place on November 27, starting at the Grand Mosque and ending at Al Dhaid Fort. From November 28 to December 1, the city will also feature vibrant folklore performances. Al Hamriyah's celebrations will be held on November 27 and 28 at Al Hamriyah Beach Park and Creek, including a march, folk songs, interactive workshops, and entertainment sessions for senior citizens.
Al Bataeh will celebrate from November 28 to 30 with a focus on heritage, national identity, and loyalty to the UAE. The program will include a traditional folk parade, horse and classic car parades, folklore performances, and 'Union Bus' tours distributing flags and gifts. Traditional art showcases and children's entertainment will be set up in local parks.
Khorfakkan Amphitheatre will host a charity musical event on December 1, with proceeds going to 'The Big Heart Foundation'. The amphitheatre will also feature events for local family businesses, a youth council discussion, a robotics segment, and a cultural platform for children, youth, and senior citizens.
Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, chairman of the Sharjah Union Day Celebrations Committee, expressed gratitude to the Executive Council of Sharjah and commended the efforts of all contributors. He emphasized the importance of these activities in reinforcing national identity and inviting everyone to participate in the celebrations.
