Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Dubai's Al Ebdaa Model School on Thursday, which emerged as the winner of this year's Arab Reading Challenge. Al Ebdaa Model School secured the top position among 229,000 schools from 50 countries that participated in the challenge. The school's principal, Laila Al Mannai, spearheaded the initiative, with Amna Al Shehhi serving as the reading supervisor. The school team implemented 48 projects to encourage reading among students. Over the course of a year, students read a total of 25,000 books, with many completing 50 books during the academic year.

During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed engaged with the students and expressed his appreciation for their achievement. In a heartfelt moment, Sheikh Mohammed saluted the students for their victory.

"This is what we aim for in all our schools.. We aspire to cultivate aware, well-read, cultured students, capable of continuous learning and constant reading.. A generation that can keep pace with the world culturally and cognitively.. and capable of shaping a brighter future for all..," Sheikh Mohammed stated in a post on X.

Three students were crowned winners of the Arab Reading Challenge on Wednesday, surpassing 28 million other participants. This marks the first time that three participants have jointly won the award.

The eighth season of the Arab Reading Challenge saw record participation, with over 28.2 million students from 50 countries, representing 229,620 schools and guided by 154,643 supervisors.

Over the past eight editions, 131 million students from 795,000 schools have participated, guided by 716,000 supervisors, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to promoting reading and literacy across the Arab world and beyond.
