The PlayStation 5 Pro made its debut earlier this month with a $700 price point and a lineup of PS5 Pro-enhanced games designed to provide early adopters with a top-tier gaming experience. However, players quickly reported that titles like Silent Hill 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor actually looked worse on the PS5 Pro. Now, Konami and developer Bloober Team have released a new patch for Silent Hill 2 addressing these issues.
The 1.06 patch for Silent Hill 2 isn't solely focused on the PS5 Pro problems. It also addresses and fixes several issues with the PC version on Steam, but the PS5 Pro fixes are the main focus here. Before this update, PS5 Pro players noticed numerous glitches and visual distortions that were not present on standard PlayStation 5 consoles.
Ironically, this isn't the first time a Silent Hill 2 update has caused more problems than it solved. The 1.04 patch was meant to enhance the game's performance on Steam and reduce crashes on PS5. Unfortunately, it also introduced some game-breaking bugs that were supposed to be resolved with the 1.05 patch. It was then that players began noticing performance issues with the game on PS5 Pro.
Kudos to Konami and Bloober Team for releasing the new patches relatively quickly. Hopefully, any future issues will also be addressed promptly. Given the early challenges some developers have faced with PS5 Pro-enhanced games, it's not surprising that CD Projekt Red has decided not to create a PlayStation 5 Pro patch for Cyberpunk 2077 anytime soon.
