Silent Hill 2 delves into the tale of a profoundly troubled individual, yet according to gamers, a recent update seems to have introduced significant issues to the game itself. Patch 1.04 was designed to enhance Silent Hill 2's performance on the Steam Deck, prevent crashes on the PlayStation 5, and rectify some unintended glitches. However, feedback from Steam users and the Silent Hill subreddit indicates that the latest update has introduced a game-breaking bug in the Labyrinth level.

The Labyrinth is an intricate underground network of corridors situated beneath Toluca Prison. As players navigate through it, they encounter several NPCs, including Eddie and Angela, and face a couple of boss battles. Additionally, the Labyrinth features several puzzles that players must solve, and it is within these puzzles that the issue arises. Upon solving a puzzle involving a rotating cube, the cube is supposed to disintegrate, allowing players to proceed. However, post-patch 1.04, the cube fails to disintegrate for some players, thereby blocking their progress.

On a positive note, Konami and Bloober Team are cognizant of the problem, and the game's developers have issued an in-game notification assuring that a fix is in the works. "We are aware of an issue some players may encounter after the most recent 1.04 patch released on October the 21st in the Labyrinth level of Silent Hill 2," the announcement states. "The fix will be released as soon as possible. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience."

For those unwilling to wait for an official patch, a recent post on the game's Steam page offers several potential workarounds, ranging from reloading the game to adjusting the frame rate. While none of these solutions are guaranteed to work, they currently stand as the only options for players eager to continue their journey through Silent Hill's eerie corridors and foggy streets.
