Welcoming a new baby into your home? The birth of a child is a joyous occasion for parents. This special moment also involves the issuance of necessary documents. Authorities across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi government entities, strive to make this process straightforward. In the UAE capital, you can apply for a digital birth certificate through Tamm, the comprehensive platform for Abu Dhabi government services. Here’s a step-by-step guide on the application process, required documents, and fees for amending, replacing, or issuing a digital birth certificate.

To apply for a new birth certificate on Tamm, start by clicking on services, selecting individuals, and then choosing identity and citizenship. Navigate to identification documents on the side menu, where you’ll find 'issue a newborn digital birth certificate.' The applicant must be one of the parents or have a special power of attorney specifically for the issuance of a birth certificate. The process is straightforward and requires just three documents: the parents' Emirates ID, marriage contract, and passports of both parents. Click on 'start service' and log in with UAE Pass. If you’re not already registered with the Department of Health, you’ll need to register by selecting the 'individual' user type option. Your profile details will be pulled from your UAE Pass account. After filling in the application and submitting the required documents, pay the Dh50 fee. The certificate will be issued within one working day.

Emirati fathers can also apply for a digital birth certificate from Tamm if the baby was born abroad. The applicant must be the father, a UAE national, and hold a family book from the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. In addition to the parents' Emirates ID, passports, and marriage contract, those applying for a birth certificate for a baby born abroad must also provide the birth certificate issued outside the UAE. After submitting the application along with the required documents, pay the Dh50 issuance fee. The digital birth certificate will be received within one working day.

If you’ve lost your birth certificate, you can apply for a replacement. The documents needed for a replacement are the parents' Emirates ID, passports, and the child’s passport. All services related to the birth certificate require logging in with UAE Pass. After filling the application and submitting the required documents, pay the Dh50 fee. The replacement will be issued within one working day.

If you need to amend details on an issued birth certificate, submit the following: a copy of the issued birth certificate, parents' Emirates ID, a letter from the embassy (varies depending on the details to be amended), a letter from the hospital (varies depending on the details to be amended), a letter from the judicial department, a letter from the Ministry of Interior, and passports of the parents and child. After submitting these documents, pay the Dh50 fee for the issuance of an amended birth certificate, which will be issued within one working day.
