Travelers from Dubai attending the annual Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which commenced on Wednesday, can now look forward to a smoother, quicker, and more comfortable journey. For the first time, attendees can utilize a ferry service from Dubai to Sharjah, bypassing the typical traffic congestion. The journey starts with a ride on the Dubai Ferry from Al Ghubaiba Marine Station to Sharjah Aquarium. This approximately 35-minute trip offers breathtaking views of the coastline. Passengers have the option to choose between silver class and gold class, ensuring a pleasant and relaxing experience.
Upon arrival in Sharjah, visitors will be transported to the event site via one of the 10 boats operating from the Sharjah Aquarium area to Sharjah Expo, a journey that takes just a few minutes. The boat ride is complimentary. In addition to this new ferry service, SIBF has implemented several other visitor-friendly measures. With over 1,500 free parking spaces available at the Sharjah Expo Centre, attendees can avoid the hassle of finding a parking spot. SIBF has also introduced smart inquiry stations, allowing visitors to easily search for specific books, publishers, and events.
Furthermore, electric golf carts will be available at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry parking lot, providing free transportation to the fairgrounds for those who require assistance. SIBF, which runs until November 17, is hosting more than 2,520 publishers from 112 countries. The event also features 1,357 diverse activities, including 500 cultural shows, literary readings, and workshops in the coming days.
