American rapper Snoop Dogg is set to join the torchbearers for the Olympic flame in the final leg before the Paris Games opening ceremony on Friday. Snoop Dogg, aged 52, will be carrying the torch through the streets of Saint-Denis, a disadvantaged northern suburb of Paris where the Stade de France Olympic Stadium is located, as announced by the town's mayor, Mathieu Hanotin, on the social media platform X.
"Saint Denis: last step before the Eiffel Tower. An international cast @SnoopDogg for the last stretch of the Olympic Flame," Hanotin posted. The rapper, who is also contributing to NBC Primetime's coverage of the Games, is more recognized in the sports arena for his Snoop Youth Football League, with the championship game dubbed the "Snooper Bowl". Other torch carriers in Saint-Denis on Friday include French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar.
