Sony has officially confirmed a PlayStation State of Play livestream event, following earlier reports. The event is set to commence on September 24 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET and will span over 30 minutes. While Sony was tight-lipped about the specifics in its PlayStation Blog post, it hinted at "news and updates on more than 20 upcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games from studios worldwide."
Jeff Grubb, a reporter from GameSpot's sister site Giant Bomb, had previously addressed rumors of such an event, confirming it would indeed take place this week. When pressed for more details, Grubb cautioned against raising expectations too high but suggested the focus might be on third-party projects and remasters.
Recent rumors and reports have hinted at potential PS5 remasters for games like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn, which could be among the announcements during the anticipated State of Play.
This State of Play event follows Sony's recent confirmation of the PS5 Pro and the 30th Anniversary PS5 console. Additionally, while there is no concrete evidence, some speculate that Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal event might also be scheduled for this month, drawing parallels to Nintendo's past September events.
