Sony has introduced a new limited-edition Monster Hunter Wilds-themed PS5 controller and console cover, just in time for the game's February 28 launch. However, there's a twist: These striking accessories seem to be exclusive to Japan.

The announcement was made via a blog post on PlayStation Japan's website, where it was revealed that "limited quantities" of the themed controller and faceplate will be available for purchase on the same day the game launches. These items will be sold separately and can be preordered starting October 30.

The Volcanic Red controller showcases Monster Hunter's Forbidden Area Research Team logo on the touchpad, adorned with a stylized floral print on the handles. The black console cover is more subdued, featuring a small accent design in the lower right corner with the same logo in the same red hue as the controller.

It remains uncertain whether PlayStation owners outside Japan will have the opportunity to acquire the new DualSense controller and PS5 faceplate. These items appear to be Japan-only exclusives, which is a shame given their aesthetic appeal. However, one thing is clear: the game itself promises to be an exhilarating experience. For those truly desperate for Monster Hunter-themed merchandise, there's always the $2,000 Monster Hunter Wilds-themed Fender guitar.

Sony also offers a range of other unique PS5 controllers through its new Chroma collection, providing plenty of options for customization even if the Monster Hunter controller remains out of reach. The first two Chroma collection controllers will be available from November 7, coinciding with the launch of the PS5 Pro.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 28, 2024.
