New Zealand's Sophie Devine is set to relinquish her Twenty20 captaincy role following the Women's T20 World Cup in October, according to an announcement by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Friday. Despite this, Devine will continue to lead the team in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). "The additional responsibilities that come with captaincy, which I have embraced, can also pose challenges," stated the 34-year-old in a release. "Since I won't be playing indefinitely, I believe it's wise to gradually step back from leading in one format to allow new leaders to establish themselves." Devine, who holds the record for scoring six consecutive fifties in T20 Internationals, has led New Zealand in 56 T20 matches, securing victory in 25 of them.
