A specialized academic program in real estate is set to be introduced at selected UAE universities, providing Emirati students with the opportunity to acquire specialized qualifications in the expanding sector. Marwan bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Land Department, informed Khaleej Times: “We are working in partnership with universities to launch this major specifically for Emiratis, with more details to be disclosed soon.” This announcement was made during the 2nd Real Estate Day for Emiratis Employment 2024, held in Dubai, which aims to empower UAE nationals and enhance their involvement in the real estate industry.
Bin Ghalita emphasized the sector's potential, stating: “With over 400 job openings posted in a single day, the prospects in real estate are vast. Emiratis should take advantage of this opportunity to develop and contribute to one of the most vibrant industries in the country.” The second iteration of Real Estate Day builds upon the success of last year’s event, which resulted in over 1,000 Emiratis securing employment. This year, leading real estate firms have returned with a range of job roles to attract fresh talent.
Dirham, the pioneering real estate company focusing on empowering UAE nationals, is one of the prominent participants. Omar Alshaiba, the company’s owner, expressed: “Our vision is for every Emirati to have an additional source of income. While most companies concentrate on recruitment, we aim to empower individuals to explore opportunities beyond conventional jobs.” Alshaiba also highlighted the flexibility of their offerings: “We offer online training programs and non-binding contracts, making it simpler for Emiratis to gain practical experience in the field.”
Another significant player, Al Ruwad Real Estate Emirati company, demonstrated its 11 years of expertise by presenting administrative roles in marketing, public relations, and other areas. “This is our second participation, and we are dedicated to providing top-tier positions for Emiratis across all real estate-related fields,” noted Ismail Al Hammadi, the company’s owner. Meanwhile, Arada Real Estate continues to advance its Emiratisation efforts. Alya Al Falasi, the Emiratisation officer, remarked: “We are thrilled to be part of this event again, offering opportunities in marketing, hospitality, and other crucial departments.”
The event also attracted aspiring Emirati professionals eager to enter the real estate sector. Hazza Al Yamahi, a 19-year-old high school graduate currently enrolled at ADNOC Technical Academy, shared: “I aspire to gain practical experience in Dubai’s real estate market. It’s a field I’m passionate about, and I’m eager to delve deeper into it.” Similarly, Zayed University graduates Shahed Bin Haidar and Fawaghi Al Sheikh attended the event, hoping to secure roles in interior design within the real estate sector.
The one-day event, hosted by the Dubai Land Department, was organized in collaboration with the Emirati Human Resources Development Council, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis). With an increasing emphasis on Emiratisation and skill development, the real estate major and employment initiative are anticipated to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Emirati professionals in the industry.
