Have you relocated to Abu Dhabi for employment and wish to bring your family along? In the UAE, residents have the ability to sponsor residence visas for their family members. If you are employed in the private sector or a freezone in Abu Dhabi, you can initiate the visa application process for your family through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP). Applications can be submitted via the TAMM website or mobile app. Below are the necessary documents, key considerations, and associated fees.
Required documents include the sponsor's and sponsored individual's passports, a recent color personal photo of the sponsored, the sponsor's Emirates ID, and a rental contract bearing the sponsor's name. The fees consist of an e-service fee of Dh28, an ICP fee of Dh22, an issuance fee of Dh100, a request fee of Dh100, and security deposits totaling Dh5025.
Important points to remember are that the passport must be valid for at least six months when applying for an entry permit. The ICP may request proof of kinship and additional documents such as a financial guarantee. The sponsored individual does not need to be in the country to obtain a residence visa, but if they enter on an entry permit, they can stay for 60 days pending the issuance of residency. A husband cannot sponsor a wife under the age of 18, and to sponsor a spouse, a marriage contract certified by the UAE Embassy or the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs is required. Proof of relationship, such as a birth certificate or marriage contract, is necessary, and any foreign-issued documents must be translated into Arabic and certified by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If the rental contract is in the husband's name and the wife is the sponsor, a no-objection certificate from the husband must be provided.
