Sri Lanka maintained their path to victory against New Zealand in the first Test at Galle, despite Rachin Ravindra's resilient unbeaten 91 on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 275, New Zealand struggled from the outset, losing wickets consistently, particularly to the Sri Lankan spin duo of Prabath Jayasuriya (3-66) and Romesh Mendis (3-83), who dominated on the fourth day's pitch.
At the close of play, the tourists were left at 207-8, still 68 runs short of their target, with the hosts Sri Lanka firmly in control of the match.
