Actor Stanley Tucci recently discussed the obstacles he encountered following his role in the 2006 comedy-drama The Devil Wears Prada, directed by David Frankel and produced by Wendy Finerman. Tucci, who portrayed Nigel in the film alongside Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, revealed the challenges he faced in securing employment after the movie's release.
"After The Devil Wears Prada, I struggled to find work, and I couldn't quite grasp why, but that's just how it was," Tucci explained. "So, I took on projects that weren't necessarily my first choice, but I had to do them." He further elaborated that his acting career has always experienced ups and downs, sometimes due to the industry and other times due to personal reasons.
"Being ill six years ago really disrupted my career for a while, and it took time to recover. I had to start working again because I needed the income. I probably returned to work too soon; I didn't have the energy after my treatments, but you have to push through, and eventually, you regain your footing," he added.
Tucci's extensive filmography includes The Lovely Bones, for which he received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination, Julie & Julia, Spotlight, Patient Zero, and the The Hunger Games franchise. Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter has reported that a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in development.
