Star Wars Outlaws is embarking on a fresh chapter this week with the release of the game's inaugural story DLC, Wild Card. To celebrate the occasion, Ubisoft has unveiled a launch trailer that delves into how Kay Vess and her companions find themselves entangled in an adventure alongside the iconic Lando Calrissian. However, it appears they will initially be on opposing sides.
In the underworld, an outlaw's reputation is paramount, which is how the Empire manages to coerce Kay into working for them on this mission. Should she refuse, the Empire will broadcast that Kay is one of their operatives, resulting in various syndicates targeting her for elimination. To keep the Empire at bay, Kay must also triumph in a high-stakes Sabacc tournament against some of the game's top players—who might also be notorious cheaters like Lando.
Naturally, this setup is bound to go awry as Lando and Kay make their escape on her ship. While the direction of the story remains uncertain, it serves as an enticing preview of the DLC. Ubisoft has also rolled out a substantial update for the game, which, among other enhancements, eliminates forced stealth missions. Moving forward, Kay can now shoot her way out of tight situations without failing her mission. Most of the significant gameplay changes are detailed in the new video below.
Ubisoft has invested considerable post-launch effort into Outlaws due to its initially disappointing sales and player feedback on certain game aspects. With the latest patch and the substantial update preceding it, Outlaws is beginning to feel more fully realized than ever. For those needing an extra incentive to dive in, Amazon is offering a Black Friday sale on Star Wars Outlaws.
