Stardew Valley's latest 1.6.9 update has been rolled out across all platforms, but as with many large patches, the beloved farming simulation game is reportedly experiencing performance issues for some users. The 1.6.9 update introduces a variety of new dress-up options for players' cats, dogs, and horses, but it appears that this feature is also the root cause of the performance problems some players are encountering.

On a positive note, Stardew Valley creator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone has provided a temporary solution to the issue: removing the hats from your pets. Barone has also assured players that a permanent fix is in the works. Instead of expressing frustration, many players responded to Barone's tweet by inquiring about the 'lore' behind the bug and its temporary fix. Barone has a history of incorporating bugs into the game's narrative, and this time is no exception. According to Barone, the lore involves a contagious rash affecting pets' ears in Zuzu City, necessitating the temporary removal of hats to allow the ears to breathe.

Other reported issues post-update include disappearing chickens, though Barone has not yet provided lore for this particular bug. He has, however, confirmed that he will not resume work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, until all issues related to Stardew Valley's 1.6.9 patch are fully resolved across all platforms.
