After a year of smaller updates and patches, Starfield finally unveils its first comprehensive expansion. The Shattered Space DLC promises hours of new gameplay, quests, and items to discover as players embark on a fresh interstellar journey. However, before diving into Shattered Space, players must meet certain prerequisites and complete a specific task within Starfield. Firstly, you need to acquire the Shattered Space DLC. This premium expansion is sold separately from Starfield at a price of $29.99. It can be purchased from the marketplace where you play Starfield, whether that's Steam or the Xbox Store. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also need to purchase the expansion, but at a discounted rate available via the link provided below. However, if you opted for the Premium or Constellation Editions of Starfield, you already have Shattered Space included. Simply update Starfield on September 30th to access the DLC.
Once you have Shattered Space and have downloaded it, load up Starfield. The only in-game prerequisite to starting Shattered Space is completing the game's introductory mission, One Small Step. This mission takes you to Jemison on New Atlantis in the Alpha Centauri system. Note that you do not need to join Constellation to complete this mission. However, it is recommended to be at level 35 or above to tackle the Shattered Space DLC effectively. Starting at a lower level may result in challenging encounters and missions.
