Over a decade has passed since the American version of The Office concluded, yet fans have persistently kept it among the most streamed comedy series. Now, Meta and NBCUniversal are giving players the opportunity to join Dunder Mifflin's Scranton office in a new VR game, The Office World.

The Office World will be accessible on the Meta Horizon platform, allowing players to choose their desks at Dunder Mifflin before engaging in minigames inspired by the show's nine-season run. These minigames and the office environment will reference some of the show's most memorable moments, such as Kevin Malone's infamous chili disaster and Dwight Schrute's stapler trapped in Jello. Players can earn Schrute Bucks to personalize their desks and purchase items from the company's vending machine.

However, the game appears to lack one of the core elements that made The Office so captivating: its characters. Viewers were drawn to the show not just for its quirky workplace humor, but for the beloved ensemble cast and the characters they portrayed. While it may be challenging for any game to replicate this, The Office World does offer players the ability to watch episodes of The Office via the Peacock app on Meta Quest. This feature will likely suffice for those craving their fix of the show.

Meta Horizon plans to release The Office World on October 10. In the meantime, the first trailer for the Australian version of The Office has recently been unveiled. Additionally, Peacock has commissioned an Office follow-up series titled The Paper, which could debut as early as 2025.
