In the '70s and '80s, Steven Spielberg revolutionized the film industry with blockbuster hits like Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. However, according to his son, Max Spielberg, the renowned director remains a dedicated gamer who can't resist playing games on his computer.
Max Spielberg, the creative director and co-founder of the game development studio FuzzyBot, shared with MinnMax that it was his father who introduced him to the world of gaming. Steven Spielberg is particularly fond of shooter games. 'He loves gaming, he's the one that got me into it,' Max Spielberg said. 'He plays games. He's a big PC gamer and so that's kind of our bonding point as well. He's like, 'Hey what's good, what new Call of Duty should I be playing, send me a list of the top five shooters, I'll get 'em downloaded and we can play 'em together when you come over to the house.'
It's quite endearing that Spielberg prefers to play games locally with his son rather than online. However, Max Spielberg also mentioned that he has struggled to get his father to try console games because Steven is too attached to playing with a keyboard and mouse. 'He's big into story games and I'm always trying to get him to play Uncharted,' Max noted. 'You know, it's Indiana Jones, you'd appreciate this,' and he's always 'I can't do controllers; I only do keyboard and mouse.'
Perhaps Bethesda's upcoming game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will provide Spielberg with an opportunity to play as the character he co-created with George Lucas. The game is set to release on PC and Xbox Series X|S on December 9, with a PlayStation 5 version coming next year.
