The lasting bond between the two countries was recently reinforced during a formal visit. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. convened with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, where both figures reiterated their steadfast dedication to fortifying the connections that have linked our nations for over half a century. President Marcos Jr. also conveyed his sincere appreciation for the UAE’s ongoing assistance and empathy towards Filipinos, particularly in difficult times, which underscores the robust relations between our countries. The story of Filipinos in the UAE has transformed significantly. Once primarily recognized as diligent migrant laborers, Filipinos are now thriving as influential leaders and business owners, significantly contributing to the UAE’s vibrant and diverse community. This evolution is a reflection of our compatriots’ resilience, skills, and resolve. Looking back on my own path, I am honored to act as your Consul-General, having formerly served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi. My tenure has revealed the fortitude of our community and the deep impact of our contributions to our host nation. As we commemorate this Independence Day, let us pay tribute to our roots, applaud our successes, and anticipate a future rich with potential and prospects. We will persist in strengthening the solid bonds of friendship and collaboration between the Philippines and the UAE. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Filipino community sa UAE!
