The Suhail star was observed in the UAE skies at 5.20am today, specifically from Al Ain. Storm Centre shared an image of this celestial object on X, captured by Tamim Al-Tamimi, a member of the Emirates Astronomy Society.
An Arab proverb states, "When Suhail rises, the night cools down." Although immediate temperature drops are not expected, night temperatures will start to decline gradually, indicating the onset of a weather change. As previously reported by Khaleej Times, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, mentioned that Suhail will become visible at dawn from August 24.
What happens after Suhail rises? 'Sufriya' - This marks a 40-day transition period from intense summer to milder temperatures. 'Wasm' - By mid-October, the weather will stabilize. 'Winter' - Approximately 100 days after Suhail's rise, the cool season commences. Suhail, also known as the 'Star of Yemen', plays a crucial role in Arab tradition. Its appearance corresponds with the unique 'Durur' calendar, which divides the year into specific 100-day segments.
