Super Mario RPG is currently available for just $30 at Best Buy, but this offer is set to expire tonight, December 6, at 10 PM PT. This marks the third time this week that Best Buy has reduced the price of the 2023 Switch remake of Mario's inaugural role-playing adventure. Earlier in the week, the game was priced at $38, and yesterday, it dropped further to $33 alongside several other heavily discounted Switch games. While some of Best Buy's Switch deals are sold out online, there's a possibility you can still find them in your local store.

Super Mario RPG remains incredibly faithful to the original, offering a delightful Switch experience enhanced with several quality-of-life improvements that make it more accessible to newcomers. Long-time fans of the series will enjoy the challenging post-game battles that truly test their skills. Beyond these additions, the game plays very much like the iconic original on Super Nintendo. The turn-based combat remains engaging, the characters and writing are both heartfelt and humorous, and the world design retains that classic Nintendo charm.

GameSpot's review of Super Mario RPG praised the modernized version of the SNES classic, calling it a delight. The game is described as one of the wildest in Nintendo's catalog, filled with eccentric characters and moments of dark comedy. The Switch version is noted as one of the weirdest remasters, with a surface-level appearance that masks its relentless faithfulness to the original.

Despite being only a year old, Nintendo has already released two Mario RPGs since Super Mario RPG's launch. In May, an enhanced edition of the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was released, earning a 9/10 in our review. In November, the Mario & Luigi RPG series was revived with Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which received a 6/10. While the art style and story were praised, performance issues and repetitive combat made it an uneven but enjoyable adventure.

Both of these Mario RPGs, along with Paper Mario: The Origami King, are currently on sale at Amazon and Woot, allowing you to save on all four physical releases. Additionally, Woot has many Super Mario platformers and party games discounted, including the recently released Super Mario Party Jamboree. Other games featuring characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, such as Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, are also on sale. You can also find discounts on a variety of Pokemon, Kirby, and Zelda games, as well as rarely discounted titles like Bayonetta and the Dragon Quest 1-3 collection.
