Susan Olsen, who portrayed the youngest Brady child, Cindy, in ‘The Brady Bunch,’ recently shared her experience regarding a planned reboot of the show that was allegedly canceled due to ‘cancel culture’ and ‘woke Hollywood.’ During an interview on The Walkaway Campaign podcast, the 63-year-old actress expressed her desire for her story to be known, citing it as another example of the current cultural climate.

Olsen believes that the situation she faced is a form of injustice. She explained that CBS was keen on reviving the classic ‘70s series, following the success of HGTV’s ‘A Very Brady Renovation’ in 2019, which attracted nearly 4 million viewers. The original ‘The Brady Bunch’ aired on ABC from 1969 to 1974 and spawned several reunion TV movies and spinoff series.

For the proposed reboot, Olsen mentioned that they had been working on it for about a year, with a showrunner and a producer involved. Each character’s political ideology was also defined. Olsen’s character, Cindy, was to be a podcaster and a libertarian, focusing on animal rescue. Greg Brady (Barry Williams) would be a Reagan Republican, while Jan Brady (Eve Plumb) would be liberal.

Olsen, who sometimes votes in Republican primaries and supports Trump, saw the character of Cindy as a way to continue the legacy of Roseanne Barr’s short-lived ‘Roseanne’ reboot. She hoped to create a show where family members with different political views could still love and respect each other.

However, things took a turn when her agent informed her that the network had issues with her due to a past incident where she was allegedly fired for making homophobic remarks on her radio show. Olsen denied these claims, stating she has been an ally to the gay community for a long time. Despite agreeing to take a course in political correctness, CBS reportedly found more controversial comments she had made about the Covid vaccine and transgender people.

Ultimately, Olsen was told that the network would not proceed with her involvement in the reboot. She expressed her disappointment, feeling that a role she had played for over 50 years was now deemed too dangerous due to her views.
