A suspect involved in the July 10 murder of an Australian couple and their Filipino relative at a Philippine hotel has turned himself in, according to police reports on Wednesday. The 33-year-old individual surrendered to local authorities on Tuesday night and was subsequently handed over to the police on Wednesday. This follows the tragic incident where David Fisk, 57, his Filipino-born Australian wife Lucita Cortez, 55, and her relative Mary Jane Cortez, 30, were found dead at the Lake Hotel in Tagaytay, a popular tourist spot near Manila. The victims were discovered face down, with their hands and feet bound and their faces covered with packaging tape, as stated by the Tagaytay city police in their official report.
The police have not disclosed the identity of the suspect but have described him as a former employee of The Lake Hotel, where he served as a pool attendant until he was dismissed in March for stealing from a hotel room. Additionally, he has a history of being arrested for gun law violations and is known to be a gambler. Both the police and the town mayor have assured that this violent act is an isolated incident.
