Luigi Mangione, the man suspected of assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, expressed his anger over the increasing influence of major healthcare insurance companies and accused them of prioritizing "immense profit" at the expense of Americans in a handwritten manifesto, according to sources.

Mangione, 26, identified UnitedHealthcare as one of the largest companies in the US based on market capitalization and criticized the health insurance industry in a two-and-a-half-page manifesto addressed to "the Feds" and recovered by investigators.

"The reality is, these [companies] have become too powerful and continue to exploit our country for immense profit," Mangione wrote, as reported by the sources. He expressed regret for any trauma caused—likely referring to the alleged execution-style shooting of Thompson, 50, in Midtown last week—but insisted that "it had to be done."

"I apologize for any distress or trauma, but it had to be done," he wrote, according to the sources. "Honestly, these parasites had it coming." Mangione also stated in the brief manifesto that he acted alone.
