As Nintendo prepares to unveil the Switch 2, or whatever it ends up being called, in the coming months, at least one retailer has already started selling purported accessories for the upcoming console. There are significant uncertainties and caveats to consider, however.

Chinese retailer Alibaba is now offering screen protectors for the Switch 2, which are larger than those needed for the current Switch, specifically the 7-inch OLED edition. A prior leak indicated that the Switch 2's screen might measure 8 inches. Additionally, a carrying case labeled 'Switch 2' is available on Alibaba, featuring a design that suggests the new console will have a similar form factor to the existing model—a theory many have already entertained.

Before this, alleged new Joy-Cons for the Switch 2 surfaced, hinting at a more ergonomic and comfortable design. Accessory makers might be privy to future product announcements to prepare their products, but there's no evidence of that here, nor is there any indication that these products are officially licensed. Any company is free to speculate and prepare for a major product launch, and as Kotaku notes, these listings could be placeholders until Nintendo makes official announcements.

The Switch 2 is expected to be officially announced by the end of March 2025, coinciding with the end of Nintendo's current financial year. The specs for the Switch 2 remain unclear, though a Digital Foundry report suggested it would use an Nvidia custom T239 processor. Nintendo recently confirmed that the successor will be backward compatible. Nintendo Switch Online will also transition to the new system. At least one game has already been announced for the upcoming console.
