In the absence of official information about the Switch 2—or whatever Nintendo chooses to name its next console—enthusiasts are eagerly latching onto any potential tidbits of news. A recent development has surfaced, adding to the growing speculation. As reported by GamesRadar, peripheral manufacturer Satisfye seemingly posted and subsequently deleted a trailer for the ZenGrip 2, which may have inadvertently provided a blurry glimpse of what could be the Switch 2 with the accessory attached.
Similar to previous leaks, this one also hints that the Switch 2 might retain a design and form factor akin to the original Switch. Although the trailer is no longer accessible, Satisfye distributed promotional material on December 6, urging fans to "get ready for the next generation console..." with the ZenGrip 2. The marketing content featured an image of the ZenGrip 2 alongside the words "top secret," suggesting its compatibility with an undisclosed device.
Satisfye described the ZenGrip 2 as offering "ergonomic hand positioning and the ultimate gaming experience for the next generation Switch." The peripheral is available for preorder starting at $50, with shipping slated for Spring 2025. It's important to note that this timeframe doesn't necessarily indicate when the Switch 2 will launch. This isn't the first time a purported Switch 2 accessory has been marketed, and skepticism remains warranted.
The product page for the ZenGrip 2 mentions that the design is "expected" and will be "tuned to financial specifications." Interestingly, the Satisfye store page refrains from directly mentioning Nintendo, but it's evident that the "next gen console" refers to the Switch 2. A small image on the website depicts the Switch design with a caption stating, "Made For Next Gen Console."
The Switch 2 is expected to be officially unveiled by the end of March 2025, coinciding with the conclusion of Nintendo's current financial year. While the exact specifications of the Switch 2 remain uncertain, a Digital Foundry report suggests that the console could feature an Nvidia custom T239 processor. Nintendo has confirmed that the successor will be backward compatible, and Nintendo Switch Online will transition to the new system. At least one game has already been announced for the upcoming console.
