UAE Team Emirates, the recently crowned UCI World Tour Best Team for 2024, has announced that world champion Tadej Pogacar has extended his contract with the team until 2030.
Pogacar joined UAE Team Emirates in 2019 and has had an extraordinary career thus far. Since his arrival, he has secured 88 victories across various racing formats, including General Classifications, Stage Racing, and One-Day Classics, showcasing his exceptional talent and commitment.
In 2024, Pogacar had a season for the ages, winning the Tour de France and Giro D’Italia, along with significant one-day races such as Strade Bianche, Liege-Baston-Liege, and Il Lombardia. He also became the UCI world champion after an outstanding performance in Zurich.
Pogacar’s achievement of winning the Giro D’Italia, Tour de France, and World Championships in a single season is a feat not seen since Stephen Roche in 1987. His 25 victories in 58 days of racing set a record that has never been matched in professional cycling.
“I am incredibly proud to continue my journey with UAE Team Emirates. This team has been my home for the past five years, and I can’t envision myself anywhere else,” Pogacar said. “The best moments of my career have occurred here, thanks to the support of the staff, management, teammates, and partners. I am excited about the future and the opportunities this team provides for me to continue winning.”
“It’s an amazing feeling to extend Tadej Pogacar’s contract, our team’s leader and the best cyclist in the world. Tadej joined us as a promising 20-year-old and has grown into a Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and world champion this season. His talent is evident, but he is also one of the most dedicated cyclists in the peloton. Tadej deserves all his success, and we are thrilled he will remain with us for many years,” said Mauro Gianetti, Team Principle and CEO of UAE Team Emirates.
“This is a momentous occasion for the team and for cycling in the UAE. Tadej is an extraordinary talent who represents the UAE exceptionally well. He inspires the next generation and is adored by many. It has been a privilege to witness his development, and I am immensely proud of his achievements for our team. As our sport continues to grow in the region, Tadej, along with his teammates, plays a significant role in this progress. Today is a special day for cycling, and we look forward to the future,” said Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri, President of UAE Team Emirates.
