The Tahbib Multilingual Festival 2024 came to a triumphant close, solidifying its status as a prominent cultural event in Dubai. For two dynamic days, the festival honored the elegance of five languages—Urdu, Arabic, English, Filipino, and Punjabi—through a remarkable display of poetry, art, and performances.
The festival's spectacular opening featured the iconic Javed Akhtar, who mesmerized the audience with his heartfelt recitation of 'Waqt' (Time). This was followed by an uplifting session of English poetry, featuring renowned poets like Mark Fiddes. The day progressed with a moving segment of Arabic poetry, showcasing the talents of Dr Shihab Ghanem, Sajda Mosawwi, and Mahmoud Noor, whose powerful verses deeply resonated with the crowd.
The second day of the festival offered a diverse array of enriching events, beginning with 'Asnaaf-e-Khayaal,' a celebration of Punjabi and Filipino poetry. Notable highlights included a captivating Dastaan Goi performance and an insightful panel discussion on cinema, featuring industry veterans Javed Akhtar, Sanjay Gupta, and Ahsan Khan. The day concluded with a Mushaira that brought together celebrated poets such as Shahbaz Shamshi, Tasnim Abdi, and Saima Zaidi. The audience was further captivated by a classical singing performance by Shafqat Ali Khan, followed by an unexpected Kathak jugalbandi that left the crowd spellbound.
