The Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) unveiled a fresh brand identity for its group of companies on Monday. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Taqa's ongoing transformation and growth, reinforcing its commitment to expanding its integrated power and water services both within the UAE and globally, according to a company statement.
Taqa's operations span the entire utility value chain, encompassing generation, transmission, distribution, water solutions, and energy services. Notably, Taqa announced that Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) will be consolidated under a unified new brand, operating as a single entity to serve customers across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. This new entity will be known as Taqa Distribution.
This consolidation is expected to amplify Taqa's customer-facing operations, enabling the company to enhance its customer services, introduce new products and services, and explore additional growth opportunities both domestically and internationally. Taqa Distribution will also play a pivotal role in Taqa's mission to champion low-carbon power and water, bolstering operational efficiency and maintaining world-class standards in its distribution networks, while seamlessly collaborating with Taqa Transmission, Taqa Water Solutions, and Taqa Energy Services.
Furthermore, Taqa will rebrand its wholly-owned operating companies. Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco) will transition to Taqa Transmission, overseeing the operation and development of both domestic and international power and water transmission infrastructure. Sustainable Water Solutions Holdings (SWS Holdings) will be rebranded as Taqa Water Solutions, leading the operation of wastewater treatment facilities and the production of recycled water in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Energy Services (ADES) will evolve into Taqa Energy Services, focusing on demand optimization and delivering customized energy management solutions.
This new brand architecture is anticipated to significantly elevate awareness and comprehension of Taqa's extensive utility activities, supporting the company's future growth aspirations and solidifying its status as a UAE national champion. Jasim Husain Thabet, Taqa's Group CEO and Managing Director, emphasized that over the past four years, the company has been focused on enhancing the performance of its operating companies and expanding its business. He added that these brand changes will significantly enhance the awareness and understanding of Taqa's pivotal role in Abu Dhabi and its comprehensive activities as one of the largest integrated utilities in EMEA and a national champion for the UAE.
Omar Al Hashmi, the incoming CEO of Taqa Distribution, highlighted that ADDC and AADC have been instrumental in powering Abu Dhabi's communities for decades, ensuring the delivery of essential energy and water services. By unifying these entities, Taqa Distribution aims to create a distribution powerhouse capable of supporting Taqa's broader mission of becoming a low-carbon power and water leader. Al Hashmi also noted that customers can expect to see the new Taqa Distribution brand on their electricity and water bills and in branches starting January 2025.
