Team Els Club leveraged their deep understanding of the local course to achieve a victorious win in the Troon Associates Cup, held on their home ground. Recently, seven teams from various Troon facilities across the UAE participated in the competition at The Els Club, Dubai. Participants included players from Al Zorah Golf Club, Al Hamra Golf Club, Montgomerie Golf Club Dubai, Arabian Ranches Golf Club, Dubai Hills Golf Club, The Track Meydan Golf, and The Els Club.
The team competition was dominated by the home club, followed by Al Zorah Golf Club and Al Hamra Golf Club. The individual champion was Herbert Kakungulu, a greenkeeper at The Els Club. Herbert expressed his delight, having participated in four Associates Cups, including two at The Els Club and one each at Dubai Hills and The Track, Meydan. He particularly enjoyed the night golf at The Track, Meydan, a new and thrilling experience for him. Feeling the pressure due to high expectations from his teammates, Herbert was thrilled to contribute significantly to The Els Club Team.
Herbert also appreciated the opportunity to meet many new people and reconnect with old friends through the Troon Associates Cup, which he described as an excellent networking initiative. He enjoyed observing players adapt to the challenges posed by the golf course.
Clinton Norris, Director of Sales & Marketing at Troon International, highlighted the event's longevity, having been conducted for over 10 years in the UAE. He emphasized the event's role in uniting associates from seven golf facilities across Dubai, Ajman, and Ras Al Khaimah, while also appreciating the hard work of the teams in delivering the Troon Golf Experience.
