Ten Iranian border guards were killed in an attack in the restive southeast of Iran on Saturday, according to state media reports citing the interior ministry.
Earlier on Saturday, Iran was targeted by Israel. Israel claimed it struck military sites in Iran in response to Tehran's attacks on Israel earlier this month, marking the latest incident in the ongoing conflict between the heavily armed adversaries.
Iranian media reported multiple explosions over several hours in the capital and at nearby military bases, beginning shortly after 2am (2230 GMT on Friday). The Middle East has been on high alert, anticipating Israel's retaliation for a ballistic-missile barrage executed by Iran on October 1, during which approximately 200 missiles were launched at Israel, resulting in one death in the West Bank.
