The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that Tesla is recalling 9,136 Model X sports utility vehicles due to a potential issue with the roof trim. The agency stated that the front and center roof cosmetic trim pieces might not be properly adhered to the vehicle, which could lead to separation and increase the risk of a crash.
NHTSA detailed this concern in a letter dated August 20, explaining that the trim pieces may lack primer, causing them to detach from the vehicle. Tesla will conduct tests on the adhesion of the roof trim and will reattach any necessary pieces at no cost to the vehicle owners.
