During The Game Awards 2024, Naughty Dog announced that The Last of Us Part II will be released for PC on April 3, 2025. The game will be accessible on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. Additionally, players will need to link their PSN accounts to access the game. The PC version will feature all the content available in the PlayStation 5 version, including the roguelike survival mode No Return, guitar free play, and developer commentary in the Lost Levels. However, the specific PC system requirements have not yet been disclosed.
"The teams at Nixxes and Iron Galaxy have been working closely with Naughty Dog to ensure that The Last of Us Part II Remastered offers an exciting experience for PC gamers from the start," stated a post on the PlayStation Blog. "We will provide more details on the PC-specific features and system requirements closer to the launch date."
The remastered version follows a similar path to The Last of Us Part I, offering enhanced accessibility options such as cinematic audio descriptions and speech-to-vibrations, which utilize vibrations through the PS5 DualSense controller to convey spoken dialogue. Improvements have also been made to the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller. The Last of Us Part II Remastered is currently available on PS5 and is optimized for the PS5 Pro console. Meanwhile, the second season of The Last of Us TV series adaptation is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2025.
PlayStation has faced criticism for requiring users to link their PSN accounts when playing first-party PC ports, including Ghost of War Ragnarok, Until Dawn remake, and Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. This requirement first sparked controversy with Helldivers 2, but Sony later reversed the decision.
