The focal point of Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 promotional campaign—Peter Stormare's The Replacer—is set to become a playable character in the forthcoming Season 1 update. The Replacer tracer pack operator bundle includes two skins for The Replacer, featuring a standard version and an additional version for those who acquire the new Season 1 BlackCell bundle. This package also offers weapon blueprints named Quick Wit and Ramifications, the 'Aura +5000' animated calling card, the 'Many Hats' animated emblem, the 'Replacement Killer' finishing move, and a vehicular weapon charm.
Activision has cautioned that for the BlackCell version of The Replacer, players must first purchase the BlackCell bundle; the skin will not function if the BlackCell bundle is bought after the Replacer bundle. Activision has not disclosed the pricing for any of the new Season 01 store bundles. Stormare himself lends his voice to The Replacer for this operator bundle.
Activision produced over two dozen Replacer ads for Black Ops 6, showcasing Stormare replacing various individuals, such as TV hosts, the Pope, NFL player Kyler Murray, boxer Canelo Alvarez, podcast host Joe Rogan, and political analysts. All these ads can be viewed on the Call of Duty YouTube page. Stormare's The Replacer first appeared in 2013 and has since been a cornerstone of Activision's Black Ops marketing efforts.
The initial commercial for Black Ops 6 featuring The Replacer was released during NFL games in September. The Replacer has even taken the place of an in-game Call of Duty: Warzone character, Graves, leading some to speculate that Activision would eventually include him in the game—a prediction that is now coming true. Activision stated that the Replacer bundle will be available shortly after Season 01 commences on November 14. Alongside the Replacer bundle, players can look forward to new maps, modes, weapons, and a new Warzone map, Area 99.
