The release date of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 may not be a national holiday, but it's certainly a day some gamers will find a reason to stay home from work. This is the concept behind Activision's character, The Replacer. Played by Peter Stormare of Until Dawn fame (and sometimes other actors), The Replacer is there to step in when people need to make time for Call of Duty. Recently, one of The Replacers even took over for the Los Angeles Rams' mascot during an NFL game.

There might have been some confusion, as The Replacer wearing the Rampage mask was met by the actual Rampage, the official LA Rams mascot. It was an understandable mix-up! Maybe he was supposed to appear this Sunday, post-release of Black Ops 6. Then we'll see if Rampage is still miffed about his temporary stand-in.

Sports broadcasts, still commanding large audiences, are increasingly becoming platforms for video game and movie promotions. For instance, random actors popped up during the MLB playoffs to hype up the release of Smile 2. Last month, Stormare reprised his role as the original Replacer in a humorous ad where he filled in as a firefighter, a family man at dinner, and even the Pope. Sadly, since The Replacer isn't real, the rest of us will need to find other ways to clear our schedules when Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 25. And yes, it's available on Game Pass from day one.

To prepare for the launch, we've detailed the length of Black Ops 6's campaign, whether it has multiple endings, how progression and prestige work, and why the Riot Shield won't be available.
