As spooky season approaches, The Sims 4 players received their first detailed glimpse of the game's upcoming macabre Life & Death expansion pack through a trailer released by EA. While each major Sims 4 expansion introduces new elements to the franchise, Life & Death stands out with its unique career opportunities, allowing players to embody the enigmatic Grim Reaper.

However, the expansion pack offers more than just a job involving the termination of Sims' lives. The trailer showcases a variety of wild new activities, from orchestrating the perfect funeral to executing the last will and testament of deceased Sims. The Life & Death expansion pack provides players with a mix of humorous and heartfelt content to explore.

Players can now take on the role of Grimsterns, apprentices of the Grim Reaper who decide the fate of Sims who have recently passed away. Achieving Grim's 'soul quota' can even earn Grimsterns the coveted Employee of the Month title. Building a strong relationship with Grim may reveal his true appearance, albeit amusingly pixelated.

The expansion also introduces new career paths such as mortician and funeral director, along with a chilling new in-game world: Ravenwood, featuring three new neighborhoods. Beyond new locations, clothing, and furniture, the expansion includes a groundbreaking feature: reincarnation.

Sims who have passed away can return to life by completing the Soul's Journey aspiration, which involves a series of goals ranging from heartwarming reunions with lost loved ones to thrilling scares. Completing this aspiration grants Sims the 'Burning Soul' trait, allowing them to return from death without the need for Ambrosia or Death Flowers.

The Sims 4 Life & Death expansion pack is priced at $40 USD and will be available on console and PC starting October 31, with a gameplay trailer set to release on October 17. Early buyers who purchase the game by December 12 will receive the Mournful Mementos Digital Content Set.
