In 2014, Polish game developer 11 Bit Studios introduced This War of Mine, a unique war game that shifted the focus from combat to survival. As the game celebrates its 10th anniversary, 11 Bit Studios is bringing players back with a new DLC titled Forget Celebrations, which aims to raise funds for various charities.

This War of Mine: Forget Celebrations will be available on Steam starting December 11, with all proceeds benefiting War Child, Amnesty International, Liberty Ukraine, and the Indie Games Poland Foundation. The DLC will feature Katia, a supporting character from the original game's storyline, who now serves as a veteran war correspondent and author.

In this new narrative, Katia is attempting to document her wartime experiences, but her world is turned upside down when she is gravely injured during a missile attack on the city of Pogoren. Despite her injuries, Katia must make difficult decisions to survive until rescue arrives and recover her lost book materials, which hold crucial stories that risk being lost forever in the chaos of war.

This isn't the first time 11 Bit Studios has leveraged This War of Mine for a charitable cause. In 2022, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the studio raised funds for the Ukrainian Red Cross to aid war victims. Additionally, in 2020, This War of Mine was incorporated into the curriculum of schools in Poland. Most recently, in the previous year, the game was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
