On Monday, TikTok announced a significant update to its platform, introducing group chats and stickers for direct messages. Users can now exchange messages with friends, and the new group chat feature supports up to 32 participants per chat. However, due to safety concerns, this feature will not be accessible to teenagers aged 13 to 15.
According to TikTok's blog post, "TikTok encourages self-expression by offering a simple way to share genuine and relatable content. The Group Chat feature leverages this, enabling users to create a shared viewing experience with friends, family, and communities. Engage in real-time watching, commenting, and reacting, making each interaction more vibrant and connected."
To ensure user comfort, TikTok offers options to mute and block users in a chat. Additionally, users can report individual messages or entire chats if necessary. Alongside group chats, TikTok is also rolling out stickers for direct messages. Users can design their own stickers via the new TikTok Stickers platform, adding a playful and creative element to their chats.
The TikTok app is available for free download on the App Store and requires an iPhone or iPad with iOS 12 or later. Make sure to update to the latest version of the app to access these new features.
