After being named Kamala Harris' running mate in the U.S. Presidential race, it came to light that Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz was once such a passionate gamer that his wife forced him to part with his beloved Sega Dreamcast. Now that Walz is on the virtual campaign trail, he finally had the opportunity to revisit his favorite Dreamcast game, Crazy Taxi.

Walz made his return to the game while appearing alongside Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has previously integrated gaming into her social media presence. At the conclusion of their joint Twitch stream, Walz briefly played Crazy Taxi, though he admitted to being a bit rusty after so many years away from the game. Nevertheless, he still demonstrated some of his old skills.

As mentioned by Walz in the clip, another gaming enthusiast had previously released a modified version of Crazy Taxi that featured the Vice Presidential candidate as a playable character. The Crazy Taxi: Tim Walz Edition was unveiled in September by video game developer Edward La Barbera. The mod includes Walz's likeness and some of his campaign trail quotes. Additionally, Harris—the current Vice President—was included as another playable character.

Walz's Crazy Taxi fandom first surfaced when IGN discovered his former Dreamcast, and one of the previous owners revealed that a copy of Crazy Taxi was found inside. As the Governor of Minnesota, Walz doesn't get to indulge in many video games these days. However, he clearly relished this nostalgic trip down his gaming memory lane.
