Todd Chrisley's job at the chapel in prison has come to an abrupt end. The former star of 'Chrisley Knows Best,' who is serving a 12-year sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion at a minimum security federal prison, was removed from his role as a chaplain's assistant for excessive conversation with inmates. According to his attorney, Jay Surgent, prison officials at the facility in Pensacola, Florida, observed Chrisley, 55, engaging in too much conversation with certain inmates, leading to his dismissal. During his brief tenure, Chrisley had been assisting in organizing religious services and celebrations for Christian, Muslim, and Jewish inmates. Surgent noted that Chrisley had been performing well before his firing, which was done 'without cause.' Despite this, Chrisley will still be able to attend religious services. A spokesperson for FPC Pensacola stated that 'for privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including their work detail assignments.' Chrisley expressed deep disappointment at no longer being able to participate in the administration of religious services at Pensacola, which included Christian, Jewish, and Muslim services. However, his attorney added that this setback has not shaken Chrisley's faith in God's ultimate plan for him, his wife Julie, and their family. In June 2022, a jury found Todd and Julie Chrisley guilty of conspiring to defraud community banks out of over $30 million through fraudulent loans, as well as tax evasion and conspiring to defraud the IRS. Their accountant, Peter Tarantino, also received a prison sentence. Todd is expected to be released in June 2032, while Julie is set to be released from her prison in Lexington, Kentucky in April 2028.
