As anticipation grows for the Monaco Yacht Show 2024, BOAT explores the leading sailing yachts set to grace this year's event, ranging from recent launches to the most prestigious yachts currently on the market.
Builder: Perini NaviYear: 1996 (2020)Length: 37mPedigree sailing yacht Norfolk Star, crafted by the Italian shipyard in 1996, underwent a "multi-million euro refit" in 2022, as reported by her broker. The overhaul included upgrades such as a new main engine room, two fresh generators, a PLC system, an Inmarsat VSAT dome, a 505 Williams tender, Doyle sails, and Reckmann rigging. Accommodating six guests, the yacht features a family-oriented layout with a full-beam master cabin on the lower deck and two twin cabins, with the possibility of an extra pullman berth. On deck, guests enjoy the comfort of a split cockpit area, complete with relaxed seating around a circular coffee table and a dining area for eight. The cherry wood interior also boasts a bright upper saloon with panoramic views and a more formal main saloon with two sofas and a dining area featuring an extendable walnut table. Norfolk Star is available for sale and will be showcased by Burgess and Northrop & Johnson.
Builder: WallyYear: 2024Length: 36.2mThe inaugural wallywind110, Galma, launched in June this year, will make her worldwide debut at the Monaco Yacht Show. Distinguished by her "luminous light metallic blue" carbon hull, the yacht's naval architecture is by German studio judel/vrolijk & co, with interior and exterior designs by Wally in collaboration with Santa Maria Magnolfi. Galma balances the comfort of a cruising yacht with the spirit and performance of a racing boat, featuring a 6.9-metre telescopic keel. Notable features include an 80-square-metre full-beam cockpit with seating and dining for up to 15 people, and an open-plan raised saloon. The yacht also benefits from natural light via a skylight running the full length of the coachroof. Accommodation options include a three-cabin layout with a full-beam master suite or a four-cabin standard layout. Galma will be exhibited by Wally.
Builder: VittersYear: 2017Length: 32.6mDelivered in 2017 to seasoned sailing yacht owners, Ribelle recently entered the market following a refit that included a hull, mast, and boom repaint, along with a new set of cruising sails. Constructed from carbon fibre by the Dutch yard to a design by Malcolm McKeon, Ribelle can sail with a minimal crew in cruising mode or transform into a true racer with a self-tacking jib. A regular on the regatta circuit, she often appears at prestigious events such as the Maxi Rolex Cup, Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, Les Voiles de St Tropez, and Palma Superyacht Cup. Her Rémi Tessier interior offers accommodation for six guests in three cabins: a master suite, VIP suite, and a twin cabin. Ribelle is listed for sale and will be exhibited by Burgess.
Builder: Nautor SwanYear: 2024Length: 28.8mThe Swan 88, Nautor Swan's first hybrid sailing yacht, features diesel-electric propulsion and is an evolution of the shipyard's previous models. Delivered earlier this year, she will make her global debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Described as a "no-compromise cruiser with a racer soul," Dreamcatcher has a draught of four metres, with options for a shallow-draught, telescopic, and performance keel. Designed for comfort with a maximum heeling angle of 20 degrees, her exterior lines are by German Frers, and her warm, classic interiors are styled by Misa Poggi, accommodating 10 guests. Dreamcatcher will be exhibited by Nautor Swan.
Builder: Baltic YachtsYear: 2018Length: 26mDelivered in 2018 by the Finnish shipyard, Mini Y is a Baltic 85 model designed by UK naval architect Dixon Yacht Design. Her silver hull and superstructure are constructed from carbon-fibre composite, and she features a telescopic lifting keel that can adjust the draft from 4.3 metres to 2.95 metres. The interior, handled by Mark Whiteley Design, accommodates up to four guests in an owner’s cabin and a guest cabin. On deck, the cockpit includes a fold-out table for guests, and the helmsman has the option of two wheels. The guest cockpit can be fully covered for racing, with navigation instruments still visible. Mini Y joined the market earlier this year and will be exhibited by Baltic Yachts and Edmiston.
Builder: YoncaYear: 2019 (2023)Length: 26.8mYonca, based in Tuzla, launched Mishi Yachts this year, marking its entry into the leisure marine market with two sailing models, measuring 26.8 metres and 31 metres. The Mishi 88, the first of these models, will be exhibited at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024. The naval architecture and exterior design are by Osman Tanju Kalaycıoğlu, Özgür Terzioğlu, and Taka Yacht, with interiors by Aylin Örs. Key features include a spacious aft deck with a dining area for ten guests, a large cockpit with a carbon composite hard-top, and a swim platform capable of accommodating a 3.5-metre inflatable tender. Accommodation is for six guests across a master cabin and two guest cabins, with additional space for the captain and crew. Mishi 88 will be exhibited by Mishi Yachts.
Builder: YyachtsYear: 2024Length: 23.9mYYachts is showcasing its Y8 model at the Monaco Yacht Show. Naval architecture by Javier Jaudenes of Surge-Projects, in collaboration with the in-house team, features a Scandi-inspired interior by Danish designer David Thulstrup. YYachts offers four pre-designed interior styles, allowing owners to customize the saloon area. A highlight is the owner's suite, which includes a separate saloon and can be located either in the bow or stern with direct access to the cockpit. Technical features include a standard carbon mast, hydraulic main sheet system, and all winches close to the helm stations, enhancing performance and ease of handling. The Y8 will be exhibited by Yyachts.
