In a distressing event, three bodies were retrieved from the basement of a coaching institute in the Old Rajendra Nagar area, which was inundated due to heavy rainfall. Concerns are high for other students possibly trapped. A rescue operation is currently in progress.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central, M Harshavardhan, stated, "We were informed at 7pm about the flooding in the basement of the USPC coaching institute in Rajender Nagar, with potential victims trapped. The road was waterlogged due to today's heavy rains. We are investigating, with the Delhi Fire Service and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams on site."

Following the discovery of the bodies, a group of students protested against the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The DCP Central appealed to the students not to protest, as it could disrupt the rescue efforts.

"The bodies have been transported to the hospital for further legal proceedings. Rescue operations continue, with water being pumped out; there is still about seven feet of water in the basement. I urge the student community not to come here and interfere with the rescue services. We understand their grief, but coming to the site is not the answer," he explained. The Delhi Police noted that due to extremely poor visibility and the flooded basement, divers and NDRF were still conducting searches.
