On Saturday, French police released US rapper Travis Scott after he spent 36 hours in custody in Paris due to suspicions of violence, according to a representative based in the US and prosecutors. The 33-year-old, known for multiple Grammy Award nominations, was detained following a physical altercation with one of his security personnel at a five-star hotel in Paris.

"Travis Scott has been released without any charges," the representative stated. The Paris prosecutor's office also confirmed Scott's release and the dismissal of the case, citing insufficient evidence for the alleged offense.

Authorities had responded to the Georges V hotel early Friday, where Scott was arrested for "violence against a security agent" who attempted to intervene between the rapper and his bodyguard, as per the prosecutor's office. Later that evening, a US representative for Scott announced that management was actively communicating with Parisian authorities to resolve the issue promptly.

Prior to his arrest, Scott was spotted at the men's basketball semi-finals of the Olympics on Thursday evening. Known as Jacques Bermon Webster II in real life, the rapper has faced legal issues in the past in the United States. He was arrested in Miami Beach in June for trespassing and disorderly intoxication after a brawl on a yacht. In November 2021, a crowd crush at his concert in Houston, Texas, resulted in 10 fatalities.

Scott's album "Utopia" was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year's Grammy Awards. He has partnerships with Nike, video game developer Epic Games, and McDonald's fast food chain. Scott is also the father of two children with social media influencer and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner.
