Turkey's foreign ministry has condemned Israel's invasion of Lebanon, calling it an illegal occupation that violates Lebanese territorial integrity. The ministry demanded an immediate end to the operation and Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon.

Israeli forces, including paratroopers, commandos, and armored units, launched raids into southern Lebanon, sparking intense clashes with Hezbollah militants. The foreign ministry warned that Israel's offensive not only threatens Lebanon but also regional security and stability, and could lead to a new wave of migrants.

The Kremlin expressed deep concern over Israel's invasion and a reported strike on Damascus, Syria. Meanwhile, China reiterated its opposition to any infringement on Lebanon's sovereignty.

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares urged Israel to halt its incursion into southern Lebanon to prevent the conflict from escalating further. He emphasized the need for a truce in Lebanon and a ceasefire in Gaza, while also condemning Hezbollah's rocket attacks on Israeli territory.

Since February 2022, Spain has led the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) with 650 troops deployed along the border with Israel. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for an end to further Israeli operations in Lebanon, stressing the importance of diplomacy over military action.

International powers are working to prevent the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah from escalating into a broader war. The EU, despite its efforts, has struggled to exert influence over the violence in the region. US President Joe Biden and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have both opposed a ground invasion of Lebanon.

Borrell indicated that the EU is ready to increase support for the Lebanese armed forces and assist UN peacekeepers in calming the situation. British Foreign Minister David Lammy, after discussing the issue with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, called for an immediate ceasefire and a return to political solutions.
