Following a significant buzz on social media due to images of a vehicle resembling the 911 GT1 being spotted at LAX, UK-based Tuthill Porsche has unveiled the GT One. This new model is a homage to the powerful Porsche 911 GT1 race car from the late 1990s, boasting over 600 horsepower, a curb weight of 2,645 pounds, and a limited production run of 22 cars. Tuthill Porsche remains somewhat elusive about the specific base of the GT One, leaving open the possibility that it might not be based on any existing model. The original 1996 and 1997 911 GT1 combined the front and center section of a standard 911 with a unique steel tubular rear from the 962 prototype. It seems Tuthill might be adopting a similar approach, given that the GT One features a mid-engine layout and distinctly does not resemble a 911 from the rear.

What is known is that the GT One comes with a choice of 4.0-liter flat-six engines: a high-revving, naturally aspirated 500-hp flat-six, similar to the 11,000-rpm engine Tuthill developed for its 911 K, or a 600-plus-hp flat-six with forced induction, though the specifics of turbocharging or supercharging are not detailed. The car offers either a manual or a dual-clutch transmission option. It features bespoke double-wishbone suspension at both front and rear, carbon-ceramic brakes, and a full FIA-spec roll cage. The bodywork is entirely carbon fiber, designed by California-based Florian Flatau, who has previously collaborated with Singer.

For those unfamiliar, Tuthill Porsche is a renowned rally and restoration shop located in the UK's motorsports valley, which has recently expanded its work with Singer and into creating its own unique restomods. The GT One's name is somewhat unusual, considering the 911 GT1's race history against the Toyota GT-One in 1998. It also represents a shift from the original 911 GT1's philosophy as a true homologation special. Tuthill emphasizes that the GT One is primarily a road car, although it may develop an aero kit for track use. Pricing has not yet been disclosed, but it is expected to be substantial, as is typical for such high-end models. For those seeking a standout Porsche resto-mod, the GT One offers a compelling option.
